As I sat down to write a blog post today it dawned on me, what better way to start a new year of blogging than with a new beginning? A few weeks ago a buddy of mine Michael Cramner, an incredible singer/ guitar player texted me and asked if I would be interested in covering another awesome surprise engagement at the “Love” statue on 55th Street in Manhattan. After working with Michael before on one of these I immediately jumped at the chance to photograph such an awesome occasion and in truth just to see him play again. I repeat Mike is an amazing singer / guitar player and to see him playing in the middle of a bustling urban metropolis like Manhattan is always a cool experience.
So there we were….. waiting…… and waiting some more. The city moved on around us and as the moment got closer we got into position. Michael with his guitar at the ready and my camera pointed in the air taking shots of random buildings trying to make myself seem like a tourist.
And then… there they were. He was on one knee in the blink of an eye before anyone could really react. The city didn’t stop and some random on lookers took out their smart phones to post this silly Australian couple to instabook or facegram or whatever the kids are using nowadays.
Shocked and elated she said YES!!! And the rest is in the photos. I took more pictures and Michael strummed his guitar and sang as the city moved around us never for a moment stopping. The important thing though is that we stopped. Ed Kat Michael and myself. For that brief amount of time we stopped and we all took part in something so incredibly special and so much bigger than ourselves.
To Kat and Ed I wish you the best in your new lives together in Australia. It’s only going to get better from here.
Without further delay….. The photos!!
